Teen Volunteers

In 2008, a teen volunteer program was introduced.  The focus of this was to provide an opportuity for older children/teens who had “grown up” with the recycle swop shop.  They can continue with the program in a new role with further responsibilities and to provide an opportunity to develop and practise life skills as well as learning inportant principles with a view to entering the workforce in employment setting.

OUTINGS & Fieldtrips

These are educational experiences meant to expose children to their surroundings in a way which helps them to understand the importance of protecting and ensuring responsible and sustainable development of this country’s most valuable assets: the environment and it’s people. In the past, outings were organized for children who showed initiative and demonstrated their hard work.  Various fieldtrips were enjoyed: swimming trips, boat trips for whale watching,  outings to the mountain top, nature reserve & flower show, recycling centre, beach, and the ice cream shop (giving us a 50% discount on all ice cream served to our participants!) We are delighted with the community support we have received.  Since 2008 forcus for outings has shifted towards  activities for our volunteers to reward them for their loyal efforts to serve the younger children.  Some of these have been:  all you can eat at a local restaruant (most popular!), team building camp, kayaking and  jacuzzi spa.
